Promoting transfer in implementation
The evaluation question here is: “Which measures are taken with respect to integration into practical activity within the implementation of the product?”
The usageusage and acceptance of a course and its learning success (meaning the achievement of primary learning goals) are the necessary conditions for transfer into practice; however, they are not sufficient (Schenkel, Tergan & Lottmann, 2000), because the acquisition of knowledge itself does not guarantee its transfer into practice. Transfer needs to be actively promoted during knowledge acquisition (Reinmann-Rothmeier & Mandl, 2000).
This can occur if the learning is embedded into an application context and if the problems, difficulties and questions which have arisen within this context can be used as a “opportunity to learn”. Learning software should be used and be flexible, providing providing the user with help and feedback.
