The Automotive Industry Education Work Group ["Arbeitskreis Automoblilindustrie Bildung"] is made up of representatives of major German car makers. The "self-directed learning" initiative was set up in this context and uses the AKAB criteria catalogue to pursue the goal of making self-directed learning programs comparable and  cataloguing them.

The criteria catalogue relates to computer based training (CBTs); the authors explicitly state that it is not designed for evaluating what are known as drill and practice programs and planning games.

The AKAB criteria catalogue allows you to enter a short evaluation (8 questions) or individual opinions in these 12 area:
