Recording of interview data
It is recommended that interviews are recorded tape-record interview (with the consent of the interviewee!). The recordings can be transcribed (i.e. written down) subsequently if a detailed analysis is required. Another option is taking notes of the responses (ideally on a interview schedule) during the interview.
Recording of observation data
Recording of observation data occurs with an observation schedule. The observation schedule contains, for example, different observation dimensions relevant to your question. The observed behaviour is classified to these dimensions either live or based on a video or log-file recording and, if necessary, coded (see also page on Observations).
Recording of data collected by criteria catalogues and checklists
Usually, the criteria catalogue itself determines the approach to recording.
