Recording of interview data
It is recommended that interviews are tape-recorded(with the consent of the interview partner!). The recordings can be transcribed (i.e. written down) subsequently if a detailed analysis is required. Another option is taking notes of the responses (ideally on a interview schedule) during the interview.

Recording of observation data
Recording of observation data relies on an observation schedule. The observation schedule contains, for example, different observation dimensions relevant to your question. The behaviour observed  is assigned to the dimensions either live or based on  a video or log-file recording and, if necessary, coded (see also page on Observations).

Recording of criteria catalogue and checklist data

Usually, the criteria catalogue itself determines the approach to recording.
