How to read the handbook?

WHEN should you turn to this handbook? It is advisable to think about the evaluation as early as in the planning phase for a project or program. This phase not only gives you the chance to optimise the design of your project, but planning the evaluation early enough also makes data collection and the ongoing inclusion of the evaluation results into project or program management easier.

Personal Consulting:
a handbook or an evaluation method cannot take the place of those responsible for the evaluation; it can merely provide support. In particular, if you have little experience in evaluation, you are advised to consult the centre of excellence for your institution to identify further people who can support you in your evaluation.

You will need additionally …
In the process of an evaluation, surveys are generated, data is collected, stored and analysedanalysed, etc. This means that you will also need a statistics program to carry out the evaluation (such as Excel or SPSS). If you would like to conduct online surveys you will also need access to survey software(for example, GrafStat at http://www.grafstat.de/, which is available free of charge to public educational institutions).
